Heredia real estate for sale | Hail to Heredia

Hail to Heredia

By Jack Obrean, a long time client of Xinia Salazar

As a guest blogger for the Easy Times, I'd like to give hail to Heredia, the city I love so much. I own a house in Heredia and I enjoy living here tremendously. I'd like to take the oportunity to tell you all how happy I am and why .

Development-wise, Escazu and Santa Ana have already had their day in the sun, driving up prices, of land of building and rentals and therefore of everything else required for living, so that by now investment in those areas is largely by those who figure to buy now and sell later at a thumping profit. But that’s a pretty risky assumption, requiring nerves of steel and loads of time, more suitable for gamblers than retirees.

05/20/2012 09:14 AM

By Barry Ashworth in Escazu for the Easy Times

Have you heard this? The new highway now makes places in the countryside be closer in driving time to Escazu. Doesn't this imply you will want to go to the Multiplaza shopping mall!!!!! Why not live nearby as many do. Most expats cant be wrong as the Escazu and Santa Ana area still remains the most popular place to live in Costa Rica. This is considered 2nd world and you only have to visit to see why.

The Multiplaza shopping mall can compete with any shoping mall in the US or Europe and offers all teh shopping you might need, from a quality supermarket to department stores, pharmacies, appliance stores, boutiques, food court, movie theatre, bars, restaurants and plenty of outdoor and indoor parking.

Costa Rica dental services are surprisingly good
03/20/2012 06:20 PM

by guest blogger Ardon Schambers for The Easy Times

In the past I have written articles and comments regarding the cost of health care in the US and whether we should support the Obama PPACA legislation.

I’ve also discussed the potential of getting some services done outside the US for significant cost savings.

I’ve further pointed out that if Medicare allowed payment for such services, the country would save a tremendous amount on its health care costs.

Is the cost of living in Costa Rica high or not
03/13/2012 08:06 PM
By Ivo Henfling for the Easy Times

Cost_of_Living.jpgThe Tico Times, in February this year, published an article with the title why is the cost of living in Costa Rica so high. The Easy Times has asked some of the affiliate realtors to comment on this article. This article said things like Costa Rica has the highest inflation rate in Central America, From shopping marts to the gas pump, everything seems to be expensive in Costa Rica. Is there no end in sight for Costa Ricas rising price tag?

Some experts seem to have found the answer: My explanation is the appreciation of the colón, My suspicion is that Costa Rica is so expensive because the price of fuel and the costs to transport the fuel are transferred to the cost of goods and We have one of the highest production costs in the region.

Looking to retire and Costa Rica is on your list?
03/06/2012 08:19 AM

By Ivo Henfling

I’m of Dutch origin and moved to Costa Rica 31 years ago and still love every day of it. I’ve seen some hard times, haven’t we all, but I have never regretted that decision. I came here for different reasons than I have now; I wanted to get out of the rat race and now the rat race caught up on me. But I enjoy every day of it. What’s the difference? The 28 years living in Costa Rica have made me wiser and I have realized that paradise doesn’t exist, you make paradise yourself.

Throughout those years, I have always worked hard, first to survive, as I was learning how to live in Costa Rica with a different culture, a different language and a different way of doing business, learning to adjust to all these new things. Soon, I came to appreciate the great weather in this beautiful country, the nature, the easy going people and their acceptance of foreigners amongst others.

More commercial construction is great for the East side of San Jose
02/18/2012 04:30 PM

By Patrick Mulheren for the Easy Times

Momentum1.jpgA Grand Slam for the East Side of San Jose is the construction of the new Momentum Pinares (Curridabat) Mall, which is already affecting the Curridabat real estate market positively.

Costa Rica Real estate on the east side of San Jose is growing faster than anywhere else in the Central Valley. Shopping is made more accessible to the local and foreign crowd alike by the construction of another shopping mall of high quality, while more and more good quality homes for sale in nice communities are being offered.

The first phase of the new Momentum Pinares complex is now open in Curridabat (across from the Hipermas/Walmart)!  Its like a slice of the U.S. air-dropped into Curridabat.  This is a sequel to the successful Momentum Lindora on the West side of San Jose.  Momentum Pinares is a beautiful, modern, mixed-use commercial complex, with green areas, native trees and an interesting designÂ…a true architectural delight.

Why the city of Grecia in Costa Rica is the new hot spot to live in
01/26/2012 06:29 AM

By Brooke Bishop, our Grecia - Naranjo specialist

Grecia.jpgThe last couple of years have seen a surge in foreigners living in Grecia. From Europeans to Canadians to of course any ex-pats, Grecia is a very attractive place to retire and live in peace. With a great climate, views from many of the ridges and exceptional shopping and entertainment opportunities, it is no surprise that Grecia is the new hotspot to buy Costa Rica real estate.

Real estate prices in Grecia have remained steady throughout the economic turmoil that we have experienced around the world in the last couple of years. One reason for this is that the prices never really became overpriced as they have in other parts of the country. Even Costa Ricans can see the value in the land in this fertile area. Sugar cane, coffee, and great infrastructure make this area still extremely valuable to locals as well as investors.

North Americans living in Costa Rica do not like Fatca
01/17/2012 04:53 PM

By Ivo Henfling for the Easy Times

Many of our US expats living in Costa Rica might not know that the United States Congress quietly slipped Fatca into a jobs bill last year. This legislation is meant to help the United States government locate overseas assets of American tax cheats.

Between the US government and Costarican government, they’re doing everything they can to keep tabs on everything you do and especially on how much money you earn. Just last year, the Costarican government created the Dimex residency card through which they will be able to control your banking business in Costa Rica.

Of course, those who don’t have anything to hide don’t have to worry about anything, which is the large majority. The New York Times, on the 27th of December published a long article about Fatca with the title “Law to Find Tax Evaders Denounced“.
