Property Description:
This three bedroom, three bath bed and breakfast with a separate apartment on the first floor has many loyal customers. If you have ever thought of owning a bed and breakfast, this might just be the perfect location for you. It's located above the town of Santa Maria de Dota in the Talamanca mountain range at an elevation of about 6500 feet. Year around you have warm days (70's to low 80's) and cool evenings (60's), just right to sit in front of the fireplace and read a good book.

Bird watching is a major activity in the area where you'll find quetzals, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, flycatchers, motmots, hawks, and lots of other birds. Some of these can also be seen from the terrace of the house. Though bird watching is one of the major attractions of the area, there are plenty of other activities.

  • Tour to a private reserve where quetzals are seen from January to May.

  • Tour to the beautiful La Guaria waterfalls.

  • Los Quetzals National Park

  • Tour to Copey, a lovely village well known for trout fishing in artificial lakes (you can have your trout cooked in a country restaurant).

  • There is a canopy for beginners at 5 minutes from the villas. Or you can go to Canopy Safari at one hour from the villas on the way to Manuel Antonio, through the rain forest (with a four wheel drive.)

  • Manuel Antonio National Park and beaches just 2 hours from Santa Maria (with a four wheel drive) through the rain forest.

  • And of course do not forget the coffee processing plant which is at full work from December to March. You'll be able to watch how the coffee is produced, collected, washed, roasted, and…you'll be able to taste it!.

The home is on almost one acre of land (.98 acres) full of cypress and pine trees. Around the manicured lawns close to the house you will find a variety of fruit trees, including mangos and peaches. The area is great for growing all kinds of citruses and tropical and semi-tropical fruits.

The house itself is a work of art, a good portion of the house is built with nazareno, a very hard purplish wood. The fireplace in the combined living, dining area brings warmth to the whole residence. Some enjoy just sitting at the bar in the kitchen chatting with the cook while others prefer laying in the hammock on the veranda watching the town way below and listening to the birds nearby.

There are two smaller homes nearby that the owner is also willing to sell, they currently rent these homes out by the week or month. Please fill free to contact us if you would like more information about these other homes.
