Escazu, March 2011
We sincerely hope you'll enjoy our March 2011 Newsletter
|
|
This morning, I received an email from a client, like I receive one everyday, asking me "what is really the reason most retired people want to move to Costa Rica?"
 |
| Blue skies in Costa Rica |
My answer to this is always the same: "the main reason is the weather". Let me explain. I just came back from Panama City and elsewhere in this newsletter I will tell you all about my visit and the weather there. Watching the news with snow in Spain and 24ºF in Chicago Illinois, with a 91% humidity. I am sitting at my desk, watching the blue sky outside. My office window thermometer reads 80ºF and humidity is 50%. In Panama City last week, the temperature was 92ºF with a humidity of 77%. Of course it depends on what you like and what you are used to. Some like it hot and some like it cold. This is the best time of the year in Costa Rica, for those who love temperate weather. If you are one of those, you should try it. Of course Costa Rica is as beautiful as ever. Blue skies, warm temperatures, great local culture, in short.....Paradise. You should come a try to live in this incredible country.
I think we have been able this month to put together an interesting newsletter, with lots of information about real estate, two members of our real estate network who went to two different places in Panama and some other great articles.
Enjoy this month's newsletter,
Ivo Henfling

72 Hours in Bocas de Panama
|
 |
| Naranjo Realtor Brooke Bishop |
My mom has been staying with us since November, so we knew that around February we would need to leave the country for her 72 hours out. I am a resident, so have never had to leave the country unless I wanted to, so there was quite a bit of pressure to find a fun easy place to go for three days. I had heard a lot about Panama, and especially Bocas. Some of my clients mention that they consider Panama along with Costa Rica as a retirement spot, so I thought it would be good to check out. We decided to go to Bocas, it sounded like an easy, fun trip. So we decided to drive my car to the border in Sixaola Costa Rica, park it there and walk across the border. Read more...

Rudy Matthews, our Costa Rica Home Specialist is a very active person and when he moved to Costa Rica, one of the reasons was that he could stay active until he'd get real old. You guessed it right, Rudy is still in great shape and wants you to know about all the things to do in Costa Rica for those you don't want to sit in front of a TV or hang in a bar all day from the moment they retire. Here is Rudy's story:

Many people ask for advice when obtaining housing in CR.
|
 |
| Home Inspector Tom Rosenberger |
Tom Rosenberger, Home Inspector, tells us all about one of the most frequently asked questions: "what construction standards can we expect ?" Most foreigners are accustomed to standard building materials and installation methods that are common in the USA, Canada and Europe.
If you have not spent much time in Latin America, you may not initially notice the lack of amenities that you have taken for granted your whole life. Read More...

| Horseback riding in Costa Rica |
Now that Rudy Matthews wrote about active retirement, I thought about Krysia Peterson and her Finca Caballo Loco and I think you'll love the topic. When the American European Real Estate Group was created, back in 1998, Krysia was a real estate agent and covered, together with Barry Ashworth, Kjersten van Horn and me, the Escazu and Santa Ana area. Things have changed over the years and Krysia, always the horse lover, started Finca Caballo Loco, a friendly and professional riding facility located near Ciudad Colon in El Rodeo close to the University for Peace. Right now, Finca Caballo Loco is celebrating "Get on a Horse Month" during all of March. Take advantage of the super reduced special price of Read more...

About a Costa Rica realtor visiting Panama City
|
Are you looking for a nice lifestyle when you retire or for a lower cost of living?
 |
| Panama City |
While I am writing this article, I am surrounded by skyscrapers and have a binocular view of the ocean, if I look hard enough between those skyscrapers. I'm on vacation and rented a 2-bedroom apartment for a week, so we can make our own breakfast and eat out the rest of the time. It's hotter than hell, much hotter than I feel comfortable in. I have lived in Costa Rica for 31 years now and never felt I needed to visit Panama City, because everyone told me it is hot. I love the tropics, I adore the sun, but I hate hot. I mean ´sweaty hot´ like in Florida, where you run from air-conditioned area into air-conditioned area. Some love it I guess, Read More...

Real Estate Tip of the Month - March 2011
|
 |
| Escazu Realtor Ivo Henfling |
Why is the Real Estate market in Costa Rica so different than it is in other countries? Read why you should buy in Costa Rica and not lose your money. Since the boom is over and in 2008 the steady flow of real estate buyers has gone down to a trickle for a while but then steadily started to come back. But still, many buyers are complaining and they ask the same question over and over: "If I can buy property in Florida and other parts of the world for very little money, why are the real estate prices in Costa Rica still the same?" I have lived in Costa Rica for 31 years now and I have been a full time realtor for half that and have seen slow times and crazy times in Costa Rica real estate. Most realtors come and go, few stay, because real estate in slow times is difficult. Some people say I am opinionated Read More...

Another great testimonial from a satisfied client
|
 |
| Jaco Beach Realtor Lisle Head |
I was going to buy a condo in Samara (Costa Rica) and I spoke to Lisle (Head) because a friend of mine brought a property from him and told me I could trust him. Well I not only trust Lisle, but I like him as a person and now consider him a friend which is why I am writing this testimonial. So I was going to buy a condo in Samara and Lisle just came out with the hard reality of that area. He spoke to me about the pro's and con's not because he wanted me to buy in Jaco but because he wanted me to be happy with my purchase. In the end, I settled for a place near Dominical not one of Lisles listings but he did find me another realtor who I could count on and whom I purchased my condo from. Everyday I appreciate what Lisle did for me and for anyone who needs help or wants to get the reality painted for you, contact Lisle Head Jim Truckee

Real estate the right way, from coast to coast
Each American-European (Easy Properties de Costa Rica) broker is an independent operator with their own unique style, personality and way of doing business. But our real estate agents have a lot in common:
- Each broker is a full-time professional.
- Each broker holds themselves and their associates to the highest standards of integrity.
- Each broker is involved with their clients before, during and after the sale, assisting you in clearing hurdles throughout your relocation process.
- Each broker's number one concern is protecting your interests, no matter whether you are buying or selling property and regardless of your budget.
As a full-time professional, the American-European broker is able to guide, advise and support each client throughout the entire process of purchasing properties in Costa Rica, preventing and eliminating potential problems before, during, and after the sale.
The American-European Real Estate Group was established in 1998 and is the oldest and largest network of independent brokers in Costa Rica. Our brokers and their associates come from many countries and have served literally thousands of Costa Rica developers and clients from all over the world as they invest in or relocate to Costa Rica.
Our network covers Costa Rica from coast to coast and was formed in response to the informality that exists in the Costa Rica real estate market. Since there is no board of realtors, or real estate licensing required by the government, the founding members believed that a network of reputable brokers operating in the most popular areas would be a great benefit to themselves and to their clients.
Sincerely,
Ivo Henfling
American European Real Estate Group
