Costa Rica Ocean Views / Beach "Close" 98% off Sale.
By John Wieland, our Playa Dominical area /Southern zone Specialist
98% off sale. WHAT? Where? Numbers can be deceiving; however, one cannot not dispute the facts. You see, having invested in and brokered Costa Rica property the past seven years, it is not inconceivable to come across a situation that just must be shared, especially if you are like me and love to find bargains.
Today I was online reading about what is going in the California real estate market Read more
To FSBO or not FSBO
By Patrick Mulheren, our “cool side” specialist
To FSBO or not FSBO: that is the question. Well, we'll get to that. First, what is FSBO? FSBO stands for For Sale By Owner, which is exactly what it sounds like: a property owner trying to sell their property by themselves, without the assistance of a real estate agent. Why on Earth would a property owner want to do that? And why on Earth would a buyer want to buy directly from a seller?
Let's discuss:
FSBO from a buyer's perspective: There's really no benefit for a buyer to seek out FSBOs on their own. Consider: Read more
If you have a maid, a gardener or other employees, by Costa Rica law you need to pay them a Christmas bonus, called "aguinaldo"
By Ivo Henfling, Escazu and Santa Ana Specialist
Back home we couldn't afford a maid or house keeper, unless it was for a couple of hours a week. Don't you all want to be able to say that you will never have to clean the house yourself, or do the laundry or any other housekeeping issues that you hated all your life but you had to do? When you move to Costa Rica, this is going to be possible. You'll get yourself a house keeper by the hour, one who comes in the morning and leaves again at night or a live-in housekeeper who will probably become part of your family.
Back home you had to have a gardener to come in once in a while because you had a full time job and you didn't feel like Read more.

By Ivo Henfling, Escazu and Santa Ana Specialist
If you need porcelain laminate veneers, invisible restorations, tooth implants, tooth whitening, or instant orthodontics to improve your smile, we have the solution here in Costa Rica at COSDENT Clinic.
Costa Rica was first put on the map by President Oscar Arias as a Nobel Prize winner or the peace. That started tourism back in the 80's. The Costarican Institute for Tourism (I.C.T) started the well known campaign of "No artificial ingredients".At the end of the 90's medical tourism started to get its feet wet with plastic surgery and dental care.
Today, I'd like to tell you a bit about Dr. Roberto Sauma, who has been my dentist since 1982 and was a pioneer in the field of dental care and cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Roberto Sauma and his clinic CosDent – Dental Cosmetics with Porcelain, is a 2006 winner of the GOHE Prize of Excellence in Health Read more.
What is "Marchamo" in Costa Rica all about?
By Ivo Henfling, Escazu and Santa Ana Specialist
The laws of Costa Rica oblige all vehicles to carry the proof of the right of circulation in the form of a sticker on your windshield. All vehicles in Costa Rica pay annually this type of road tax and it is charged by the INS, the local insurance company that is owned by the government. INS means Instituto Nacional de Seguros for National Insurance Institute.
To some foreigners this road tax might be a surprise, but many of you don't realize that many countries in the world charge all vehicle owners a road tax. The UK for example charges Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) and once a car is three years old it has to be tested each year to ensure that it is in a roadworthy condition, if it is an MOT certificate Read more.
A day in the field to the Los Santos area and we had a blast
By Ivo Henfling, Escazu and Santa Ana Specialist
On Tuesday, October the 20th, some of the Godutch real estate agents went on a visit to the not very well known (yet) Los Santos area to do a tour organized by our Los Santos area specialist Tony Warren and see some of his property listings.
The plan was to tour some of the listings that Tony has to offer to our clients and finish at Tony's home to have a late lunch. We are getting more and more buyers looking for rural properties in Costa Rica and Read more.
Read what clients have to say aboutJohn Wieland, our Playa Dominical area / Southern zone Specialist:
Hello John,
How are you and your lovely family doing? We are so happy with our purchase and we owe a great deal to both you and to Jimmy. Maybe fate intervened a little too when the ice storm that hit the east kept us in country long enough to meet with you and to have Jimmy show me the various properties (including the one you recommended and we subsequently bought).
Jimmy couldn't have been a better guide or nicer person to deal with through out the whole process. He stayed in touch in a timely fashion when we had questions and if he didn't know the answer, he made sure to find it and to alleviate any anxieties we may have had during the whole proceedings. Your operation is top flight and I have already suggested your services to several people that I have met during my research of Costa Rica as well as to personal friends that I have here at home that have begun to feed off of my enthusiasm when speaking of my experience in Costa Rica.
Not only was Jimmy totally professional, but he recommended a great law firm to work with that completed our transaction without any issues. I also understand that Oscar Arias has approved the appropriations necessary to complete the work on the coastal highway that will service the Uvita, Domincal area. What if anything do you know of this?
Well, that's all for now. I hope this e-mail finds you and your family happy and healthy. Talk to you soon.
Vernon Perrone.
