It's only 25 minutes to Multiplaza Escazu
By Barry Ashworth in San Jose for the Easy Times
Have you heard this? With the new highway now places in the countryside are closer by driving time to Escazu . Doesn't this imply you will want to go there!!!!! Why not live nearby as many do. Most expats cant be wrong as the Escazu/Santa Ana area still remains the most popular place to live in Costa Rica. This is considered 2nd world and you only have to visit to see why.
Parents you will find all the social life for the kids revolve around the Escazu area and unless you want to act as a Taxi driver!!! on weekends choose location sensibly. Of course now from Escazu it is approx a 1 hour easy drive to the first white sand beaches (Punta Leona and Jaco Beach). You can now choose any of the beaches along the coast with easy access but live in a a great climate with infrastructure.
You can even choose mean temperature by altitude. Escazu and its hills are cooler than Santa Ana which is ideal pool weather. There are even cooler and dryer areas in the hills of Santa Ana. Who wants air conditioning? Try it and see. You will feel a lot healthier and save energy.
There is still a lot of countryside, quiet areas, trees and spectacular views and even walk to restaurants and stores. There is some traffic but it always flows. There are also alternative routes if you want to avoid most traffic.
You will also be 10 minutes from a public golf course, various sports clubs, gyms and people to socialize with. I hate to say it but almost everything you want except for the snow or temperatures in the 90's.
There are also a wide variety of homes to choose from as demand has created the market. There are more traditional older homes to modern condos a wide variety to suit most tastes. Have you ever heard Location, Location, Location.?
